oh fiddlesticks....

Decided to throw together a list of songs that I could think of that make me cry. This is just shit I could think of, i'm sure the list is much longer as I am a sucker for a good song.

Jeff Buckley - Halleleujah - killer, just a really beautiful voice singing a really beautiful song.
REM - Everybody Hurts - this is old school....but it used to make me sob like a baby in high school.
U2 - Sweetest Thing - Tears of joy, I love this song. Im not a huge fan of U2, but there are some songs that are just really good and you can't deny it.
Damien Rice - The Blowers Daughter - yeah, this is just a moving song, I don't cry, but it's just good.
Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer - I had the line "in the clearance stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade and he carries a reminder of every glove that laid him down and cut him til he cried out, in his anger and his shame, I am leaving I am leaving, but the fighter still remains" written on my mirror when I was 19...for months. S&G are one of my favorite bands. There music does not relate to me at all, but I just like there music. Just a different time.
Temple of the Dog - Say hello to heaven - Not crying, but moving.
Blink 182 - Adams Song - I haven't heard this song in a millions years, but if you've ever been depressed in high school and kinda hated your life, this was a good song to bring you some prospective. It's poorly written, but it makes sense, kinda like that offspring song....the kids are alright, something...don't remember the name.
Bubba Wilson - Everette - Before I even knew who the hell the monsters were I heard this song, and sobbed. The lyrics just kinda hit home.
Johnny Cash - Hurt - this is an obvious one, just a great song.
The Used - Smother Me - I've been hooked to a few songs by them. It's good stuff.
Dashboard Confessional - Screaming Infidelities - ah dashboard...now this reminds me of a time in my life, where shit was just wrong. It's a good nostalgia song for when i'm feeling like I can't remember what I did for the last 26 years.
James Blunt - Goodbye my Lover - So commercial, but it's just a great song. Dig it.
Robby Roberston - Shine your light - A ghey song from the move Ladder 49, seemingly written with a rhyming dictionary, but whatever, it's nice.
Ryan Adams - Touch Feel Lose (and I never wanted to be rolling train, I never wanted to be your dancing shoes, I just wanted you to love meee....I just wanted you to love mee...touch, feeeeel, lose....cryyy cryyy cryyy.) Shit, this is a fucking great song, by a great songwriter.
The Killers - Read my Mind - One of the only killers songs i've ever liked. It's killer....haha.

Dude, I don' know, i'm sure there are a trillion more. Anytime I listen to Sublime it takes me back to like 7th-8th grade....it's crazy how powerful music is. It's definitely my only source for memories...without it I probably wouldn't remember yesterday.

Struck a chord....

Matchbox Twenty - Busted (listen to the acoustic version)......

I forget when the words were only words
She knows the party makes me nervous
In this stage we cant get hurt
Dont try to understand me

Were too cool to be alone
But, not too crazy to get busted

I found out one life just aint enough
I need another soul to feed on
Im the flame I cant get burnt
Im wholly understated

I found silence in this space
An on and off again attraction
I need such amazing grace
Heaven sweep me away

Love dont change, dont come around here
Dont wear my heart on your sleeve
Like a high school letter
Dont strain, cuz nothing ever comes from it
And the people weve become, well
Theyve never been the people who we are

I strap on one horse and prayed for luck
I dug another hole to bleed
I know exactly how this works
I need a new feel dirty

I dont need you crowding up my space
I just want to get inside you
You cant believe the heart you save
Giving something away

I dreamed that the world was crumbling down
We sat on my back porch and watched it
I dreamed that the buildings all fell down
We sat on my back porch and watched it
In my head I heard the sound
Like fifteen strangers dancing

But oh how I want you to know me
Oh how I want you to know me
Oh how I wish I was somebody else, baby
Oh how I wish you could own me

My GTA4 Review

Alright, so who cares what I think about a video game. And whatever, I know like 3 people who read my blog. But I still would like to give my props to something that I really like. Now, I know im a huge dork....and gaming isn't for 26 year old females....I say fuck it....it's a cool ass game, still not as cool as halo 3 but cool none-the-less.

Alright, so the game itself from the beginning of the series was a cool concept. Being given total freedom in a video game isn't a new concept (zelda - N64 style), but they've definitely taken it to a new level. I dig the freedom, but I don't see a huge difference in the freedom of the previous GTA game. The graphics don't measure up to any new games either. I was really dissappointed with some of the glitches....I hate the idea of being able to spoil a game by adding something as lame as half your ghost body going through a wall. I mean, it's programming...make his body stop at the wall. I digress....

You get to ride helicopters with guns, drive in boats and motorcycles. You can get every weapon imaginable and you can play darts with a Jamaican. The story played out....more like a long soprano's episode, but was really good. I still haven't came close to beating it, and I probably never will cause i'll get bored with it. But it's definitely a cool game. However, the online play sucks...really sucks.

That's all.

Feeling Nostalgic

It's late and I was reading the internet when I was reminded of one of my favorite books when I was a kid

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

I remember owning this book....and truly truly loving it. It's filled with the best poems and drawings. It's a childrens book, but I remember being truly impressed by the words. Here's a snippet....

Love,
LOTV
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

I challenge you!

Recently this mysterious looking item has come into my life. It is called the 20q Challenge....

I have spent some time with this thing (Quibert) as I liked to call him....and it really is odd how it works.

So it's just like tradition 20questions, except the machine asks YOU 20questions and quibert has to try to guess what you are thinking. Odd right? Well, I have stumped it a few times, but it's probably because some things don't fall into the No/Yes/Rarely/Sometimes categories, or they fit in all 4. BUT, trust me.....it has correctly guessed some crazy things.

Correct Guesses Currently: Shoes, Cigarette, Hammer
Incorrect guesses: an orange (it was in fact an apple, close enough), Train (it guessed a breadbox I think)

There have been more but I forgot them already.

This wonderful little game only retails for like $19.99. Buy it now.

LOTV
